Jaswinder Singh Bhalla (Punjabi: ਜਸਵਿੰਦਰ ਸਿੰਘ ਭੱਲਾ) is a Punjabi comedian and actor. He is also the Head of the Department of Agricultural Extension Education at Punjab Agricultural University. He is best known for his programs Chhankata and the character Chacha Chatra. He first started his acting career as Chhankata in the role of Chacha Chatra in which his main co-stars were Bal Mukand Sharma and Neelu.

He made his debut in Punjabi films with “Dulla Bhatti”. After this, he also acted in many Punjabi films in which Chak De Phatte, Carry On Jatta, Daddy Cool Munde Fool, etc. have become very popular.

Childhood

Jaswinder Bhalla was born on May 4, 1960, in the city of Doraha, Ludhiana. His father, Master Bahadur Singh Bhalla, was a primary school teacher in the village of Barmalipur. He received his basic education from Doraha Senior Secondary School.

Dr. J.S. Bhalla did his B.Sc. Degrees of Agriculture (Hons) and M.Sc (Extension Education) in 1982 and 1985 from Punjab Agricultural University, Ludhiana. Prior to joining PAU, he served as AI / ADO in the Department of Agriculture, Punjab for five years. He joined PAU’s Department of Extension Education in 1989 as an Assistant Professor and completed his Ph.D. (Agri. Extension) Completed as an in-service student from CCSU, Meerut during the year 2000.

Comedy career

They started protesting on Independence Day and Republic Day demonstrations. Jaswinder Bhalla and two classmates were selected for All India Radio in 1975. As a student of Punjab Agricultural University, Jaswinder Bhalla had performed comedy in the programs of the university. He started his professional career in 1988 with Bal Mukand Sharma The audio cassette Chhankata started in 1988.

Bal Mukand Sharma and Jaswinder Bhalla were classmates at Punjab Agricultural University. The word Chhankata is derived from PAU’s annual college-level show by Bhalla and Sharma. Doordarshan Kendra Jalandhar saw him performing at the Prof. Mohan Singh Mela (Cultural Festival) with the personal help of Punjabi writer Jagdev Singh Jassowal. He has released 27 audio and video albums of the Chhankata series.

Apart from Bal Mukand Sharma, Neelu Sharma is also a part of the Chhankata series. The series, which started with Chhankata 2002, also released a videocassette.

Jaswinder has acted in Punjabi films like ‘Mahaul Theek Hai’, ‘Jija Ji’, ‘Jihne Mera Dil Luteya’, ‘Power Cut’, ‘Kabaddi’ Once Upon a Time, ‘Aappan Pher Milange’, ‘Mel Karade Rabba’, ‘Carry On Jatta’, ‘Jatt & Juliet’, ‘Jatt Airways’, etc.. In some Punjabi films, he always talks with different pillow clauses. Like I would have broken a walnut with my lips, if Chandigarh was like the village of Dhaiju then Rahiju or Dhillon would not have found a black coat. Through his art, he said that his films expose social evils such as female feticide, drugs, and unemployment.

Jaswinder Bhalla, B.N. Along with Sharma, he is the most famous and acclaimed Punjabi comedian in Punjab. He has won the Best Punjabi Comedian Award for his contribution to the comedy of Punjabi cinema. His dialogue delivery is considered to be the fastest among Punjabi comedians.

In 2015, his stage partners, Bal Mukand Sharma and Jaswinder Bhalla were honored in the state of Utah by Lieutenant Governor Spencer Cox at the behest of his classmate and influential friend Mani Grewal.

Personal life, Wife, Children

He is married to Paramdeep Bhalla, a fine arts teacher. His son’s name is Pakhraj Bhalla, who is studying BT in Audio Visual from Punjabi University, Patiala. Pukhraj has also appeared in a few casts in Chhankata since 2002 and has also acted in some Punjabi films. His daughter is Ashpreet Kaur, who is married in Norway. Bal Mukand Sharma is a good friend of his, who plays his nephew in the Chhankata series.

1. State Youth Award: The winners of Shaheed-e-Azam Sanat Bhagat Singh Raj Yuva Puraskar (1986-87) included a cash prize of Rs.5000 / -, a gold medal and a school sitting.
