Hamid Mir Career:

Hamid Mir joined the Daily Jang (Lahore) in 1987 and worked there as a sub-editor, reporter, and feature writer and edition in charge. In 1994, he broke the scandal of submarines purchase in Daily Jang. Some close of Asif Ali Zardari was involved in this Scandal, along with some Navy officials.

In 1996, Mir become the editor of Daily Pakistan in Islamabad, making him the youngest editor of any national Urdu newspaper in the history of Pakistani Journalism. He lost his job in 1997 because he wrote an article in Daily Jang about the corruption against Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif. Mir went to eastern Afghanistan, where he investigated the escape of Osama bin Laden from Tora Bora mountains in December 2001. He also writes the Biography of Osama bin Laden, as well as a weekly column in Daily Jang.

Mir belongs to a literary and journalistic family. His granddad, Mir Abdul Aziz was an Urdu, Persian, and Punjabi language writer from Sialkot. According to Mir, his mother lost his whole family during the migration from Jammu to Pakistan in 1947 after independence in 1947.
