People on a motorcycle who shot Ghazala and her father on June 18, 2012, killed them. Later, on December 16, 2013, a court in Swat found her ex-husband, Jehangir Khan, responsible for their deaths. He was given two death penalties and had to pay fines of 70 million rupees. But on May 22, 2014, the Peshawar High Court changed this decision because there was an agreement between Jehangir Khan and the families of Ghazala and her father.
