The Turkish drama "Dirilis Ertugrul" which is being aired in Pakistan under the name "Ertugrul Ghazi" in Urdu on Pakistan Television (PTV).
While ordinary Pakistanis are liking it, prominent figures in the showbiz industry seem unhappy with the airing of the play.
'Ertugrul Ghazi' has been translated into Urdu at the request of Prime Minister Imran Khan and is being aired on PTV from the first of Ramadan and so far the drama has surpassed Pakistani dramas in popularity.
While the Pakistani people are happy with the story of the play and the acting of the actors, some personalities of the showbiz industry have also expressed their displeasure over showing the said play on PTV.
While actor Shaan Shahid has expressed anger over the airing of 'Ertugrul Ghazi' on state TV, actress Reema had also expressed anger over the airing of the Turkish drama.
Shaan Shahid said earlier this month that he was not against Turkish dramas, but that he was against running such dramas on state TV.
Because it is run by the people's taxes and foreign dramas should not be advertised at the government level.
Similarly, Reema also said that at a time when the Pakistani drama industry is facing difficulties and Pakistani actors are not getting jobs, it is unfortunate to run foreign dramas at such a time.
After Shaan Shahid and Reema, now actress Yasir Hussain has also expressed anger over the airing of 'Ertugrul Ghazi' on PTV and demanded from the management to make a similar historical drama based on the cast of local actors.
In his Instagram story, Yasir Hussain expressed anger over the airing of 'Ertugrul Ghazi' on PTV, saying that PTV should make a historical drama and hire its artists and technicians.
At the same time, he wrote that PTV should hire artists who pay taxes and have talent.
He added that both used clothes and Turkish dramas would destroy the country's local industry.
Addressing the people, Yasir Hussain wrote that when his brother would be fired from the bank, his sister from school, and Abu from his job, jobs would be given to the Turks, then they would have an idea of what he was saying.
At the same time, the actor reminded the people to remember that PTV is a public TV.
However, many people disagreed with Yasir Hussain's opinion and replied that if people want to see good dramas of other countries, then who are they to stop them.
Some people also mocked Yasir Hussain's performance and asked when was the last time he appeared in a PTV drama? Similarly, some users accused him and other Pakistani actors like him of not agreeing to work with PTV for low pay.
Some users wrote that they do not want to waste their time and money watching Pakistani dramas and movies, so they will only watch Ertugrul Ghazi. Some users wrote that as soon as Turkish dramas were broadcast, Pakistani artists started remembering the destruction of the industry.
