WhatsApp Recognizes User Demand and Introduces the New Feature

Posted on Nov 4, 2020

WhatsApp users often face a problem and that is filling up the storage space of the phone, which is the result of videos and photos sent by friends and contacts in this application. But now WhatsApp has acknowledged the biggest demand of users and has introduced a new feature that will make it easier to discover and delete files.

The process of introducing this new tool to users around the world has started this week. At the moment, the storage usage tool in WhatsApp is very simple, in which it is simply stated how much memory the app's files occupy the phone. The number of messages, photos, GIFs, and videos in each chat and each category can be deleted separately. This is useful, but users do not get a chance to see what kind of content they are deleting, especially if they want to save important photos or videos while clearing a family group chat.

But the new tool will offer a thumbnail of content to users while group data will be presented in different categories such as Forwarded many times and Larger than 5MB. "We've made it easy to review, delete and free up content," WhatsApp said in a tweet announcing the introduction of the feature. This will make it easier for users to identify content that they deem unnecessary or no longer needed and can be deleted.

To use this new feature, open WhatsApp and go to Settings> Storage & Data and then Manage Storage. This feature has been in the works for a few weeks and was introduced in beta in October and will now be gradually available to all users. WhatsApp is the world's most popular messaging application with over 2 billion users.

But WhatsApp users often face a problem and that is filling up the storage space of the phone, which is the result of videos and photos sent by friends and contacts in this application.
