Waqar Zaka Claims to Be Appointed as a Corrupt Currency Expert

Posted on May 18, 2021

TV and social media star Waqar Zaka, who gained fame by hosting reality shows, has claimed to have been appointed as a cryptocurrency expert by the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government. Waqar Zaka had said in a tweet yesterday that "I have been appointed as a corrupt expert by the government of Pakistan and I have decided not to take a single penny for this work. I will provide my services for free".

However, the caption of Waqar Zaka's tweet and the notification included in it raised some questions and objections are also being raised by Twitter users. First, he claimed that he was working with the government of Pakistan, while the notification attached to the tweet clearly stated the government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The second is that the notification is about 3 months old and has a date of February 4, 2021.

It may be recalled that in March this year, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Information Technology Board had announced a meeting of the KP Corruption Advisory Committee, which was chaired by Ziaullah Bangash and Provincial Finance Minister Timur Jhagra. During the meeting, various sub-committees were formed to work on the project, and in this list, Waqar Zaka was included as a part of the technical expert committee.

However, Ziaullah Bangash, then KP Chief Minister's Adviser on Science and Technology, has resigned due to personal reasons and unavoidable circumstances. Due to the date of the notification and the resignation of Ziaullah Bangash, various comments are being made by the users and doubts are also being expressed on his statement. A Twitter handle wrote, "Check the date of the notification. It is 3 months old, while the people involved are not in the office and the committee has been disbanded."

Azhar Mashwani wrote, "Why are you lying? First, read the notification. You have not been appointed an expert by the government of Pakistan and apparently, this committee has also been dissolved because the concerned minister had resigned." Muhammad Qureshi wrote, "This notification is dated February. Is the committee active or not because Zia Bangash had resigned?" Farah Noor asked, "How was he who was evicting Imran Khan till yesterday ready to work under him?"

Earlier, Waqar Zaka had claimed in his brief tweet on May 4 that he was ready to pay off the country's total debt through cryptocurrency, but his only condition for this was that Prime Minister Imran Khan resign.

The social media star also wrote that he should be given the authority to run the country to pay off all the debts of the country. Remember that Waqar Zaka keeps posting on his social media accounts with reference to cryptocurrency. He also has a private Facebook account in which he reveals the secret ways to succeed in using cryptocurrency. It may be recalled that Waqar Zaka had also announced the formation of a political organization called Tehreek-e-Technology Pakistan (TMP) two years ago.

Waqar Zaka had termed the party as a political party and said that their main objective would be to bring internet revolution to the country.
