Yumna came into this world on 30th July 1989 in Lahore, Pakistan but currently, she is settled in Dubai and comes to Karachi only for her work. She is the daughter of father Zameendar Zaidi and mother Shabana Naheed Zaidi. She has 2 elder sisters who are married and 1 younger brother. After completing her early education she did her bachelor's in Home Economics from the Lahore College of Home Economics and then went on to fulfill her dream of becoming an actress since childhood.
Yumna has done a master's in interior design and has some experience in radio jockey as well as hosting.
What is meant to happen always finds a way, Yumna never planned to pursue a career in acting, however, through the request of her friend Affan Waheed, she initiated her career acting just for fun by playing a supporting role in the ARY Digital’s 2012 domestic drama Thakan. Later after a little recognition, she achieved her first leading role in the melodrama Khushi Ek Roag. She then appeared in Urdu 1’s Teri Raah Main Rul Gai opposite Samiya Mumtaz and Sami Khan where she played the character of Maryam.
It is considered a true talent to deliver emotional and intense scenes with perfection, our blooming star is one of the few young actresses who with professionalism portrays these emotionally intense and strong characters and scenes perfectly.
Few of her critic approved projects include Geo TV’s Meri Dulari (2013) and Hum TV’s Ullu Baraye Farokht Nahi (2013), that also granted her the Best Supporting Actress nomination at Hum Awards. After her drama Rishtay Kuch Adhooray Se in the year 2013, she was more adored by the fans and appreciated by the directors.
Furthermore, some of her widely recognized dramas include Mausam (2014), Madawa (2015), Guzaarish (2015), and Jugnoo (2015), Kaanch Ki Guriya (2015), Paras (2015) and AAP ki Kaneez (2015), some of which garnered her several Best Actress nominations.
Yumna appeared in Hum TV’s Yeh Raha Dil in 2017 opposite Ahmed Ali, where she played the character of Hayat whose mother has died and father deserted her at a young age. Her on-screen chemistry with Ali was praised by viewers and earned her nomination of a Best on-screen couple at Hum Awards.
As we include recent projects around 2018–2019, she has appeared in Pukaar as Samra, a widow of the feudal lord. She played the role of Hajra in social drama Inkaar opposite Imran Ashraf and Sami Khan and made a special appearance in Angeline Malik’s anthology series Choti Choti Batain. She is currently featuring in an extended cameo in the hit Ishq Zahe Naseeb.
