Wasim Akram ensured not to win the World Cup after 1992, Aamir Sohail

Former Pakistan cricket team opener Aamir Sohail has accused former captain and great fast bowler Wasim Akram of not winning the World Cup since 1992.

Aamir Sohail said that Wasim Akram was made the captain of the national team before the 2003 World Cup and I think this is the reason why he failed to win any World Cup after 1992.

"It's very simple, Put the 1992 World Cup aside and talk about the 1996 World Cup," the former opener said.

"Rameez Raja was the captain in 1995 before that Saleem Malik was the captain and he was very successful and if he had led for one more year, Wasim Akram would not have been leading the team," he said.

Aamir Sohail said that Wasim Akram's greatest achievement was to ensure that Pakistan did not win any World Cup after 1992.

He claimed that "Look, Wasim's greatest service to Pakistan cricket is to ensure that he does not win the World Cup after 1992. Imran Khan should be grateful to him and is giving him the Presidential Award."

"If Wasim Akram had been sincere with Pakistan, we could have easily won 1996, 1999 and 2003 World Cups," said the 53-year-old former left-arm opener.

Aamir Sohail was part of the Pakistani team that won the World Cup in 1992 and demanded that Wasim Akram's case be investigated.

"This whole drama was created for some reason, it should be investigated and the culprit behind it should be brought to light," he said.

It may be recalled that Aamir Sohail played his last World Cup in 1996
