National team fast bowling coach Waqar Younis has called on former national team captain Shahid Afridi and former India opener Gautam Gambhir to end the ongoing war on social media.
Gambhir and Shahid Afridi, who are considered to be each other's biggest rivals in the field, have had several verbal clashes on Twitter over the Kashmir dispute.
Gautam Gambhir is currently a Member of the Indian Parliament while Shahid Afridi is successfully carrying out his foundation and philanthropic work.
In an online show, Waqar Younis advised the two former cricketers to show restraint.
He said that online verbal clashes between Shahid Afridi and Gambhir have been going on for a long time, both of them should show wisdom and patience.
"It's been going on for a long time, I suggest the two of them meet somewhere in the world and if they can't stop, sit down and talk," the bowling coach said.
The last series between India and Pakistan was played in 2012-2013 and due to ongoing political tensions between the two countries, no full series has been played since 2007.
Waqar Younis said that the cricket series could improve relations between the two rival countries and I think it will be the most successful series in the world.
"I think Pakistan and India must play and both countries should not deprive the fans of cricket while playing on a regular basis," he said.
