The Abu Dhabi Film Commission, the Israel Film Fund and the Sam Spiegel Film and Television School in Jerusalem have signed a joint agreement to conduct a bilateral cooperation and training program in the film industry.
According to a joint statement issued on Monday by Arab News, the agreement stipulates that the annual regional film festival between Abu Dhabi and Israel will be held.
Apart from Emirati and Israeli productions, the regional film festival also announced plans to screen films made jointly by the two countries.
"This agreement will not only strengthen the cultural ties between our creative industries but will also help develop Abu Dhabi's film and TV sector," said Mohammed Al-Mubarak, chairman of Two four 54, a media company.
"Film is an art that acts as a bridge between people and cultures. I think it's a great opportunity for us to learn, to create," said Lisa Slovach Azard, executive director of the Israel Film Fund. And close to our neighbors in the Middle East.
Under the agreement, four initiatives will be taken, including holding bilateral workshops, training programs, education and holding an international film lab and a regional film festival.
Abu Dhabi and Israel Film TV Production will co-organize training programs for filmmakers from both countries.
