Turkish state-run broadcaster Turkish Radio and Television Corporation (TRT) has launched a YouTube channel exclusively for Pakistani fans, given the overwhelming popularity of its dramas in Pakistan. TRT launched its YouTube channel in Pakistan after the overwhelming popularity of its urban drama Ertugrul Ghazi.
Ertugrul Ghazi is being aired on state TV on the instructions of Prime Minister Imran Khan under a special agreement between TRT and Pakistan Television (PTV). Ertugrul Ghazi has been translating and broadcasting in Urdu on PTV since the end of April and the drama has become the most-watched drama on YouTube in Pakistan.
Ertugrul Ghazi's story is based on the pre-13th century Turkish warrior Ertugrul Ghazi's wars with the Crusaders, also known as the Islamic Conquest. Following the great popularity of Ertugrul Ghazi, TRT has launched a special channel on YouTube in view of the popularity of Turkish dramas among Pakistani fans, in which popular dramas are being uploaded with Urdu subtitles.
Introduced by TRT in mid-June (TRT Drama) YouTube channel has been subscribed by around 22,000 people in a week and so far, 10 episodes of 2 Turkish dramas have been released on it. So far 8 episodes of popular drama (Abdul Hameed under base) and 2 episodes of (Elimi Birakma) have been released on TRT drama with Urdu subtitles.
Episodes of dramas released on YouTube have been viewed an average of 5,000 times, while the first video released on the channel has been viewed more than 77,000 times so far.
