Support for millions of Android and iOS phones is being removed by the Facebook-owned messaging platform 'WhatsApp' by the end of January 2020.

After January 31, 2020, users using certain versions of Android and iOS will miss the WhatsApp feature.

WhatsApp announced long ago that WhatsApp support will be discontinued on iPhones running iOS 7 on February 1, 2020.

If Apple introduced the iPhone 5s and 5C 2013 on iOS 7, then people using iPhones in 2014 or later won't have this problem.

People using an earlier iPhone will either need to get a new phone or update to iOS, in which case they will be able to use the WhatsApp.

On the other hand, WhatsApp will also stop working on phones running Android 2.3.7 or Gingerbread operating systems.

This operating system came out in February 2011, so if your phone is 8 to 10 years old then you should be concerned otherwise WhatsApp will not be shut down.

It is unclear at this time the number of users using iOS 7 and Android 2.3.7 operating systems, but it is thought to be in the millions.

In simple terms, if you are using a phone with Android 2.3.7 or iOS 7 operating system, replace it with an operating system running Android 4.0.3 or later, iPhone 9 or later. Phones that work on later versions, KaiOS 2.5.1, and more.

It is to be noted that earlier on December 31, 2019, WhatsApp terminated support for phones running on all Windows operating systems.

WhatsApp Prior to Windows Phones Released Support for BlackBerry Operating System, Blackberry 10, Nokia S40, Nokia Samba S60, Android 2.1, Android 2.2, Windows Phone 7, iPhone 3G / iOS
