ISLAMABAD: The government has removed 5 properties from its privatization program after receiving statements of qualifications (SQs) for the sale of two power plants worth $ 2 billion.

According to the report, the decision to remove five properties from the privatization program was made in the Cabinet Committee on Privatization meeting which was chaired by the Prime Minister's Advisor to the Finance Minister Dr Abdul Hafeez Shaikh.

At a meeting on one-point agenda, it was also decided to hand over 3 out of the 5 properties to the new Pakistan Housing Authority for the construction of low-cost housing units for the general public.

The issue of the other 2 properties is complicated as their titles are not clear but they are borrowed commercially, which will allow the relevant ministries to identify 2 alternative properties with clear titles and pass them on to the Privatization Commission for sale. Instructed
