The federal government has decided to close all educational institutions across the country till July 15

The federal government has decided to close all educational institutions, including schools and universities, till July 15, keeping in view the situation of coronavirus in the country.

Talking to the Prime Minister and other federal ministers after the National Coordinating Committee (NCC) meeting, Federal Minister for Education Shafqat Mahmood said
That when the coronavirus epidemic broke out, we were instructed to take full care of the health of the students and continue their education.

"We decided, in consultation with the provinces, to close all educational institutions by May 31 and postpone all examinations in June and July," he said.

The Federal Minister said that we took these decisions in early March and as per the directive of the Prime Minister, we started the series of tele-education and also continued the series of education through TV channels.

Shafqat Mehmood said that with the passage of time, it was decided to review the above measures and a meeting of inter-provincial ministers was held two days ago in which decisions were taken on two issues which were first discussed at the National Command and Operations Center (NCOC) and was approved after being presented at the NCC meeting on May 7.

He said that schools, universities, and all other educational institutions would be closed till July 15 instead of reopening on June 1.

Continuing his speech, he said that it has been decided to close educational institutions for another month and a half, and at the same time board examinations have been canceled.

He said that students of all the boards of ninth, tenth, eleventh, and twelfth classes would be promoted to the next class on the basis of last year's results while the results of the eleventh class would be available for admission in universities.

Shafqat Mahmood said that this is a very important decision for the health of the students because if the exams are held in the halls there was a danger of crowds and also the problem of coming and going there so these decisions were taken for the satisfaction of parents and health of children.

It may be recalled that after the first case of coronavirus was reported in Karachi on February 26, the Sindh government had decided to close the school for two days. However, on March 1, the decision was extended and the school was closed till March 13. ۔

After Sindh, closure of educational institutions at Punjab and federal level was also announced.
