The Euro Cup and Copa America have been postponed for a year

This year the major football competitions of the Euro Cup and Copa America have been postponed for a year due to the rapid spread of the Corona virus globally.

According to the news agency AFP, the special meeting of the European Football Governing Body was held on Tuesday through a video conference in which all concerned organizations decided to postpone the Euro Cup for one year.

The tournament was to be held from June 12 to July 12 this year, but will now be held from June 11 to July 11 next year.

The postponement of the event is now likely to be contested by European leagues around the world due to the spread of the virus, but it will also depend on the further effects of the Coronavirus worldwide.

"At that time, the football community needs to demonstrate responsibility, alliance and solidarity, and for us, the health of players, fans and staff is a top priority," said UEFA President Alexander Kiefferne.

Like the Euro Cup, the Copa America Cup has been postponed for a year.

The event was also scheduled to take place from June 12 to July 12, and for the first time the Copa America competitions were to be held in two countries Argentina and Colombia.

Now, like the Euro Cup, these competitions will be held from June 11 to July 11 next year, with 11 teams participating.

It should be noted that Portugal had won in the last Euro Cup while Brazil had the honor of being champions by defeating Peru at home ground in the 2019 Copa America.

Corona Virus has been badly affected by the Corona virus compared to sports around the world where up to 100,000 people have been infected with the virus and more than 4,000 have died.

Major sports competitions including football, cricket, tennis, basketball around the world have been canceled and the French Open recently canceled the second Grand Slam event of the year.
