Adnan Sami Khan, a singer and musician who has renounced Pakistani nationality, was honoured with the Padma Shri Award, one of India's highest civilian awards, by the Indian government on January 26 last month.

In reference to Adnan Sami Khan, many Indians also said that he was the son of a former Pakistani soldier who fired on India in the 1965 war and today the government has awarded the son of this soldier.

Swara Bhaskar claimed in the speech that the Indian ruling party loves the neighbouring country of Pakistan and that is why the Narendra Modi government gave a Padma Shri award to a Pakistani.
Speaking on controversial citizenship law in his address, Swara Bhaskar said that under Indian law, India has no religion and no citizenship belongs to any religion.
