Standing Committee Expresses doubts over BISP's Removed of 8 lac people

Islamabad: A sub-committee of the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) has expressed scepticism over the procedure adopted to exclude 8 million people from the Benazir Income Support Program (BISP).

Asked by committee convener Sherry Rehman, the BISP's secretary said 42 percent of the 8 Lac 20 thousand 165 people excluded from the program were removed because they travelled abroad.

The Secretary said that the work of improving the organization's ability to conduct the survey was given to 3 NGOs (NGOs) and a private company and Rs 8 billion was allocated for it.

The three non-governmental organizations include the 'Sustainable Development Policy Institute, the Rural Support Program Network and the Women's Foundation, while the private company is named Innovative Development Strategies (IDS).

Senator Mushahid Hussain pointed out that according to his information, all three NGOs are known for doing community-based programs, but they do not know a company called IDS.
