LAHORE: The Prime Minister's Adviser for Environmental Change Malik Amin Aslam has said that the policy of electric vehicles will help boost the country's transport sector in the coming years.
Speaking at the launch of the country's first fully-electric three-wheeler ceremony, he said that the electric vehicles policy was formulated after consultation with all stakeholders.
The launch ceremony of 'Pakistan's first full 3 wheeled electric vehicles' was organized by the Ministry of Environmental Cooperation in collaboration with the Board of Investment and Adaptive Engineering Works Limited.
He said the key electric vehicle policy adopted by Prime Minister Imran Khan on November 5 will help strengthen pollution-free transport facilities in the country.
Amin Aslam says there are four key components of the electric vehicle policy and these vehicles will run at 70% lower cost than fuel-based vehicles.
He added that introducing electric vehicles in the country from low cost to environmentally friendly will help reduce the oil import bill while also giving endless benefits to the environment, people's lifestyles and cities.
At the same time, he said that efforts were being made to localize his electric vehicle and make Pakistan a part of the global chain of electric vehicles.
The advisor added that electric vehicle policy and economic incentives will also be enhanced in the auto manufacturing sector for the local manufacture of electric vehicles.
Describing the benefits of electric vehicles, he said, 'Electric vehicles do not emit smoke and they are clean while it does not cause noise pollution and also consumes fuel'.
The emission of carbon dioxide from conventional vehicles to climate change is contributing to greenhouse gases in the environment and is causing environmental degradation and health problems overall, he said.
On the contrary, not all-electric vehicles are producing carbon dioxide, which is causing the environment to deteriorate, he said.
