Pakistan categorically rejects 'baseless' claims regarding Pak-China Economic Transit (C-PEC).

Radio Pakistan reported that Foreign Office spokeswoman Ayesha Farooqi rejected C-PEC's claims that the scheme was always based on loans or non-compliant financing with state bail.

Answering questions on the recent statement by US Senior Ambassador Alice Wells to C-PEC during a weekly briefing in Islamabad, Aisha Farooqi explained that C-PEC's total debt is about $ 4 billion 90 million, which is the country's total debt. Not even 10%.

It should be noted that Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi had earlier said that we have to see our interest in the context of Pak-China economic transit. We will continue to do what is in our interest.

In a statement issued in the context of the current situation after the US accusations of C-PEC and China's reaction, Shah Mehmood Qureshi said Pakistan's efforts were to put their vision in front of the world.

At a weekly briefing, the spokesperson said that the C-PEC is a long-term plan that is discussed through a comprehensive process while addressing the development gap in creating energy, infrastructure, industries and creating jobs for Pakistan.

He emphasized that the project should be understood as economic benefits and socio-economic development for the people of Pakistan, and he said that we believe it is also beneficial for regional connectivity and prosperity.
