More than one billion grants were given to sports organizations in 5 years

Most of Pakistan's sports organizations criticize the governments on the issue of funds and blame it for the failure of various sports globally, but in the last five years, they have been given huge sums of money.

Contrary to the complaints of sports organizations, the Pakistan Sports Board (PSB) in the light of the directive of the Prime Minister or the President
During the last 5 years (2014/15 to 2018/19), a huge amount of Rs 1.06 billion has been released to the National Sports Federations in the form of annual and special grants.

Federal Minister for Inter-Provincial Coordination Dr. Fehmida Mirza recently distributed checks to athletes who won medals at the South Asian Games in Kathmandu, surprisingly ignoring the role of coaches.
The government should also give prizes to the coaches of the athletes who have won medals.

PSB organized training camps for 20 different sports in Islamabad, Lahore, and Karachi in 2019-2018 in preparation for the South Asian Games.

Despite spending huge sums of money, Pakistani athletes failed to perform well in these games, and even Sri Lanka and host Nepal managed to win more medals than Pakistan.

In the South Asian Games, traditional rival India topped the list with 173 gold medals while Pakistan was fourth in the medal tally.

In addition to grants from the government, medals are given to the country's athletes and athletes, and their outstanding performance is appreciated.

Prime Minister Imran Khan's government had tightened funding for the national game on reports of alleged corruption in the Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF).
But the PHF failed to reach the Tokyo Olympics despite the release of Rs 424 million.

The Pakistani hockey team also failed to reach the 2016 Rio Olympics.

According to PSB documents, Rs. 35 million was released to Pakistan Billiards and Snooker Federation (PBSF) between 2014/15 and 2018/19 but no training session was held before the foreign tours.

Muhammad Asif, a world-renowned Pakistani snooker player, also had a dispute with the federation and complained of non-cooperation from the administration.

It may be recalled that Imran Khan, the captain who made Pakistan the world cricket champion in 1992, had abolished the team system of financial institutions in the country after he took over as the Prime Minister, which was expressed by others including former players.

This unexpected decision of the government has deprived thousands of the best players in their jobs and will only increase their difficulties in the future.

Pakistan needs to improve on its performance in the style of China, which topped the medals at the 2008 Beijing Olympics, beating the United States in front of a host of spectators.
Which was not possible in a short time, but it took them 16 years to get here.

China finished fourth overall at the 1996 Atlanta Games with 16 gold, 22 silver, and 12 bronze medals, with the United States, Russia, and Germany topping the list.

Four years later in Sydney, China finished third with 28 gold, 16 silver, and 15 bronze medals, followed by the United States in Athens with 32 gold medals.
