Mahesh Hayat expresses indignation at sharing wrong video on Pakistani-born journalist Tariq Fateh
KARACHI: Actress Mehwish Hayat has given anti-Canadian journalist Tariq Fateh a false impression of Pakistani polio workers taking a blunt hand on defaming Pakistan's name.
Pakistani anti-Canadian journalist Tariq Fateh shared a video on his Twitter account yesterday, in which a woman running on two polio workers was saying she would not give her children polio drops because of polio drops. After the children became ill, the woman closed the door on the mouth of the polio workers.
Sharing this video, Tariq wrote that a Pakistani mother not only molested two women on a polio worker but also closed the door on her mouth.
Actress Mehwish Hayat showed Tariq a mirror and said thank you for your concern but first confirm your source before posting anything on social media next time. Because it's actually a scene from my movie "Load Wedding" and I'm a polio worker myself. While the woman who is running is also an actress.
Mehwish Hayat ridiculed the weak facts of Tariq Fateh and said that through this film and this scene, we were raising awareness on the issue of polio in Pakistan. However, glad to see that our performance was very good.
Thank u for giving ur 2 cents on this but pls first verify the source b4 posting next time. It’s a scene frm my movie”loadwedding”,the polio worker is me & that woman an actress.Through the film we were raising awareness of the issue.Glad 2 see our performances were so convincing https://t.co/ididoJJcxL— Mehwish Hayat TI (@MehwishHayat) January 15, 2020
Mehwish Hayat has been widely praised on social media for his failure to discredit Tariq Fateh's attempt to discredit Pakistan. A user wrote Tariq Fateh not only misleading on Twitter but also spreading negative thoughts, Mehwish did very well.
While a user responded to Mehwish Hayat's best response to Tariq Fateh, it was Mehwish who received the distinction.
