A huge explosion shook the port of the Lebanese capital, Beirut, on Tuesday, leaving a number of wounded, Sky News Arabia correspondent reported. The reporter added that witnesses of Lebanese citizens were transporting others who were injured as a result of the huge explosion.

The explosion was so strong that the glass facades of distant buildings had fallen apart from the explosion. Pictures and videos posted on the communication networks showed the moments of the explosion and the huge smoke billets that came to the sky. From the pictures, and video it seemed that there was a small explosion in the port, followed by a huge explosion that shook the Lebanese capital.

The port has been closed for the past five days due to the Coruna virus, and only today has it returned to work. And our correspondent monitored major damages to the port, as fires are still burning in some parts of it. The Lebanese security forces and army worked to remove the people who had arrived at the port, in anticipation of further explosions at the site. The blast comes three days before the issuance of the Special Tribunal for Lebanon in the case of the assassination of former Prime Minister Rafik Hariri.
