Justice Gulzar Ahmed took Oath as Acting Chief Justice of Pakistan

ISLAMABAD: Senior Supreme Court Justice Gulzar Ahmed took oath as acting Chief Justice of Pakistan. Radio Pakistan reported that Justice Mushil Alam of the Supreme Court took oath from Justice Gulzar Ahmed. The oath-taking ceremony was held in the federal capital Islamabad, attended by judges and lawyers of the Supreme Court.

Justice Gulzar Ahmed will perform his duties from Chief Justice Asif Saeed Khosa's visit abroad. It should be remembered that when the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court goes abroad, the senior-most judges of the Supreme Court take over.

Earlier, Justice Gulzar Ahmed has served as acting Chief Justice several times. Justice Gulzar Ahmed is counted among the senior-most senior judges of the Supreme Court and will be the next Chief Justice. After Chief Justice Asif Saeed Khosa, who retired on December 20, 2019, Gulzar Ahmed will take over as the next Chief Justice of the Supreme Court and he will retire by February 1, 2022.
