India: 'Mirzapur 2' Boycott Campaign Due to Tweet of Muslim Actor

Bollywood actor Ali Fazal's old edited tweet is being used to boycott the upcoming crime thriller web series 'Mirzapur 2' in India. 'Mirzapur 2' is Amazon Prime's third original web series in India, which will be released on October 23 this month. The trailer of the said web series was released a few days ago on October 6 and as soon as the trailer of the web series came out, the campaign to boycott 'Mirzapur 2' started on Indian social media.

According to the Indian website The Quint, the main reason for the boycott campaign of 'Mirzapur 2' is an old edited tweet of Ali Fazal, the main actor of the web series. The report said that an old tweet of Ali Fazal was edited and shared on social media and a boycott campaign of 'Mirzapur 2' was launched using this tweet as an excuse.

Ali Fazal's tweet which was used as an excuse to boycott 'Mirzapur 2' was actually a fake tweet of the actor. Ali Fazal, while sharing a glimpse of 'Mirzapur 2' in August this year, had written dialogue of the same web series 'Shuru Majboori Mein, Ab Aaye Ga Maza', which is being edited and the actor is being defamed.

The actor's tweet was edited and a picture of the hand of a police officer killed in riots during a protest over a controversial citizenship issue in the capital New Delhi earlier this year was posted. Under the dialogue of the web series written by the actor of the tweet, a picture of the hand of the body of the police officer who was killed by the protesters was included and it was spread on the internet and a boycott campaign of 'Mirzapur 2' was launched.

Campaigners called the Muslim actor an anti-India actor and appealed to the people to boycott the anti-India actor's web series 'Mirzapur 2' which used poisonous language. In this regard, Times Now said in its report that Ali Fazal expressed surprise at the campaign to boycott the web series by using the said tweet as an excuse and said that now it is up to Twitter to decide whether to watch any web series or movie. What will be the trend?

Ali Fazal said that there are many big problems happening in India, including demonstrations by farmers across the country, but he never saw a trend on Twitter on this issue? At the same time, he said that in recent days, Corona has destroyed India, but now there is no trend on Corona? So they don't understand why there is a trend against their web series?

On the other hand, other actors of 'Mirzapur 2' also expressed surprise over the boycott campaign of the web series and at the same time said that the web series is being liked because of the story and people are being deceived by the people who are running the boycott campaign. According to Zee News, Devindo Sharma, the lead actor of 'Mirzapur 2', also termed the boycott campaign of the web series as ridiculous and said that the story of the web series is as brilliant as the first season, which the fans will be happy to see.

It may be recalled that 'Mirzapur 2' is the second season of the web series of the same name to be released in 2018. The said web series shows the crime and violent politics in the region of Puro Vanchal between the states of Uttar Pradesh and Bihar. The story of the web series is fictional but the area shown in the series has been the center of violence in India for many years and there have been calls for a separate state.

The Pro Wanchal area is based on several districts and the people of the same area have been demanding a new state by merging some more districts and the area is also considered to be the largest Bhojpuri speaking area. From the same constituency, 30 members of the Lok Sabha and about 170 members of the Uttar Pradesh Assembly are elected.
