Important instructions of the Prime Minister to reduce electricity prices
ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Imran Khan has directed to reform the energy sector and provide relief to the people in electricity prices.
According to details, a high-level meeting was held under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Imran Khan to reduce electricity prices. The meeting was attended by Minister for Planning Assad Omar, Energy Minister Omar Ayyub, Chairman NEPRA, Advisor to Finance Hafeez Sheikh, Nadeem Babar, Federal Secretaries and other senior officers.
In the meeting, the Prime Minister directed the reform of the energy sector at all levels and said that the energy sector is key to the development of the national economy. Consumers and industries have to ensure electricity at a reasonable cost.
The Prime Minister said that overcoming the losses in the energy sector is the top priority of the government.
He said that in the past, timely administrative reforms were backed up and losses in delivery and distribution were also ignored. The government is facing various challenges in the energy sector, and the public has to bear the burden of the mismanagement of the previous era.
The Prime Minister said that up to 300 units are giving every possible relief to the consumers on usage, the problem of the people is well known. The effort is to ensure stability in electricity prices.
At the meeting, the Prime Minister added that relief would be provided to the public as much as possible.
