Government Opposing the Request of Nawaz Sharif to go Abroad Unconditionally

A hearing on the request of PML-N President Shahbaz Sharif to remove Nawaz Sharif's name from the Exit Control List (ECL) in the Lahore High Court is underway.

During the dose of the hearing (today), the court asked that the federal government submit its response. To which the Government's Advocate Additional Attorney General (AAG) Chaudhry Ishtiaq A. Khan responded in support.

It may be recalled that yesterday, a two-member bench comprising Justices of the Lahore High Court, Justice Ali Baqir Najafi, and Justice Sardar Ahmed Naeem, sought an immediate response from the federal government on the removal of Nawaz Sharif from the ACL.

It was reported that the federal government opposed Nawaz Sharif's request for permission to leave the country unconditionally. The federal government submitted its position in the court that the Lahore High Court does not have the authority to hear the petition.

The 45-page response from the federal government was requested to dismiss the Lahore High Court's plea as unheard of. The federal government said that the government allowed Nawaz Sharif to leave the country for four weeks.

Later, the court handed over copies of the government's stand to the PML-N's advocacy team.
