Senate members criticized the government over the wheat crisis and the continuous rise in prices of essential commodities while denouncing the ministers' statements on the matter, calling it a "mockery of the people".

"Pakistan is an agricultural country, which is the eighth largest producer of wheat in the world, but people are still worried about bread," Senator Sirajul Haq, the head of the Jamaat-e-Islami, said during the Senate meeting.

He said, "It is a pity that on such an important level, a federal minister stands among the people and says that people are eating more in November and December, which has led to a wheat crisis. Are you The minister has made fun of the Pakistani people. ”

Siraj-ul-Haq made this reference to a Railway Minister Sheikh Rasheed Ahmed's press conference on Saturday, in which he said, "Food increases in November and December." '

He laughed at what he said was "not a joke, there is research in this regard."

During the Senate meeting, Siraj-ul-Haq and other senators strongly criticized the government over Sheikh Rasheed's statement, saying, "Tell the world that we are joking that people have reached the moon and people in Pakistan are queuing for flour bags."

Speaking on the issue, Senator Usman Kakar of the Pakhtunkhwa Milli Awami Party also said, "Who is responsible for this crisis, the most guilty are the enemy government and those who have imposed this government on the people."

He said, "The government has revived the lives of the people.

Usman Kakar further said that the prices of goods and drinks have increased on average by 13 to 15% while many items are being sold at more than 200% prices.

He said that the bread found in Quetta for Rs 20 is now being sold for Rs 40.

The PKM senator said that after this, the government ministers are also making fun of the people, the opposition should stand till the people are apologizing against the government.
