Early age marriage: Pakistan's debut film on Netflix

Oscar-winning Pakistani director Sharmeen Obaid Chinoy and ARY Films are set to present another excellent animation film that will be released on Netflix, the first Pakistani film to be released on Netflix.

The animation film 'Sitara' is about preventing under-age marriages and girls from fulfilling their dreams and it will receive the honour of being the first Pakistani film to be released on Netflix.

Sitara is being produced in collaboration with Sherman Obaid Chennai (SoC) Films, Valley Animations and ARY Films. Sherman Obaid Chennai, Salman Iqbal and Jarjis Seja are the producers of the film while animation director is Kamran Khan.

Animation movie Sitara is the story of two sisters Pari and Maher. The film depicts scenes from Lahore in the 70's where both of their sisters read and write in their small house.

These two sisters want to become pilots when they grow up.

One day suddenly Pari's father brings a red shoe for her and tells them that they have decided to marry her. No one at home, including 14-year-old Pari, is happy with the decision.

The story of the film is the story of little Maher who, one day, sees her sister dressed in jewellery, dressed in a red dress, when she discovers that she is leaving the house now, she begins to cry.

The film leaves the question in the minds of its viewers why the girls are prevented from dreaming and fulfilling it.

The sad thing is that decades ago, this story is being repeated somewhere in society today, even in the 21st century.
