According to the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC), an official from Belgaum, a registered organization of the Belgian potato business, urged people to eat potato chips twice a week.

Roman Coles, the organization's secretary-general, urged the Belgian people to eat potato chips twice a week to prevent spoilage and increase farmers' incomes by increasing potato sales.

He said Belgium's various warehouses contained 7.5 million tonnes of potatoes, which could not be shipped to other countries due to the lockdown, and could deteriorate if locals did not start eating more potato chips.

He said the potato business organization would work with the country's major stores and hotels to develop a strategy for making more potato chips, as well as advising the public on them. He stressed that they should eat potato chips twice a week during the lockdown.

By the afternoon of April 28, the number of Corona patients in Belgium had risen to nearly 47,000, while the death toll there had risen to more than 7,200.

Although cases of corona are lower in Belgium than in many other countries, Belgium is one of the 10 largest countries on the continent affected by corona.
