Chairman of the Jang Group, publisher Mir Javed-ur-Rehman, passed away

According to Geo TV, Jang Group chairman and publisher Mir Javed-ur-Rehman died in Karachi after a prolonged illness.

In addition, senior journalist Hamid Mir expressed regret at the death of Mir Javed-ur-Rehman in a tweet, saying he was suffering from lung cancer and had been under treatment for a long time.

The founder of the late war group was Mir Khalil-ur-Rehman's older son and brother of Mir Shakeel-ur-Rehman, who is editor-in-chief of the media group.

After taking charge of the war group, Mir Khalil-ur-Rehman extended his father's legacy and expanded the media group.

Talking to Geo News, his colleagues and friends remembered him as a "polite and simple man."

Mir Shakeel-ur-Rehman is in the custody of the Lahore NAB where he is under investigation and he was allowed to go to Karachi yesterday to meet his ailing brother.

It may be recalled that on March 12, the National Accountability Agency arrested Jang and Geo Group editor-in-chief Mir Shakeel ur Rehman in a land-related case.

It is pertinent to note that according to the notice issued on February 28, Mir Shakeel ur Rehman was illegally allotted to Block H of Johar Town Phase 2 by the then Punjab Chief Minister Nawaz Sharif in 1986.

On the other hand, according to a Jang Group spokesman, the property was purchased 34 years ago, with all the evidence provided to the NAB, including documents to meet the legal requirements for taxes and duties.
