Blended of textile colour, sawdust, rice husk in spices. KARACHI: Spices manufactured in various areas of the city of Karachi have revealed the use of textile colour, sawdust and rice husk.

According to the details, Sindh Food Authority raided various spice factories in Per Abad district and Liaquatabad area of Central district, revealing that the spices made in these factories were used in textile, colour, sawdust and the rice peel is being blended.

During the raid, it was also discovered that the place where the spices were being prepared was full of dirt and insects, the hazardous ingredients in the spices were also found.

The Sindh Food Authority, under the leadership of Deputy Director Sameera Hussain, sealed the factory in Per Abad and seized the smuggled goods worth around 4000kg. A fine of Rs 50,000 was also imposed on the factory. 

A warning was given to a factory located in the central district, spokesman Sindh Food Authority said, that all existing non-standard spices in the factory have confiscated and destroyed.
