Babar Iftikhar Replace Maj. Gen. Asif Ghafoor as  New DG ISPR

Pakistan Army Appoints New DG ISPR to Replace Maj. Gen. Asif Ghafoor Appointed and transferred to the Pakistan Army, Major General Babar Iftikhar has been posted as Director General (DG) of ISPR.

On the other hand, Major General Asif Ghafoor was transferred to the GOC 40 Division (Okara).

Later, in his message on the social relations website Twitter ISPR's account, Maj. Gen. Asif Ghafoor said, "Thank you to all those with whom I have been associated during my tenure. I am grateful to all the media." I would like to extend my sincere thanks to the love and support of the people.


He also expressed his best wishes for the new DG ISPR.

In addition, he said in a message on his personal account on Twitter, "Thank you for your love and support, keep up your work for Pakistan while remaining strong."

Introduction of Major General Babar Iftikhar


Major General Babar Iftikhar received the commission in 1990, graduating from the Command and Staff College Quetta, National Defense University Islamabad and the Royal Command and Staff College, Jordan.

He has extensive experience in command and training, having served as a Brigade Major in the Armored Brigade, the Infantry Division's Brigadier Staff and Chief of Staff Corps Headquarters in Waziristan.

He also served as commander of the Armed Brigade and Infantry Brigade in North Waziristan.
Later he served as a faculty member at Pakistan Military Academy and National Defense University Islamabad.

Prior to the deployment of the DGISPR, he was commanding the Armed Division.

Babar Iftikhar has 4 sons while he is fond of studying and pursuing golf.

Introduction of  Major General Asif Ghafoor


It is to be remembered that on December 15, 2016, Major General Asif Ghafoor was appointed Director General (DG) of ISPR, Pakistan Army Department.

According to a report from the military sources at the time, it was reported that Major General Ghafoor belonged to the Artillery Regiment and had extensive experience of the Operator while he also had command of a unit in Operation Almazan.

He also served in the Military Operations Directorate while also completing the National Action Plan (NEP).

It may be recalled that Lieutenant General Asim Bajwa was earlier the DGISPR, who was promoted to the Inspector General of Arms in the GHQ.
