Quetta Gladiators did not complain of ball tampering, PCB

Contrary to the claims of Quetta Gladiators in the Pakistan Super League (PSL), the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) says the league's defending champions have not complained of ball-tampering against Peshawar Zalmai.

After the match between Peshawar Zalmai and Quetta Gladiators on Saturday, Quetta Gladiators captain Sarfraz Ahmed had said that his team believed that Peshawar changed the condition of the ball and that the matter was before the match referee and the PCB.

As far as hair tampering is concerned, Sarfraz said that we have submitted our report to the PCB on the issue of rules and regulations, but team manager Nabil Hashmi explained that no formal complaint has been made yet.

Regular complaint by any team is filed by the team manager under PSL 2020's Code of Conduct for Players and Support Staff Clause 2.2.3. This complaint is sent to the match referee within 48 hours of the match ending.

However, the match referee Roshan Monthly did not receive any complaint during that time and the 48-hour window is now closed.

PCB chief executive Wasim Khan said that the statement regarding the change of the condition of the ball was issued without providing concrete evidence and no specific procedure for submitting the formal application was taken in this regard.

Waseem Khan said that issuing such an irresponsible statement without adopting a specific procedure had jeopardized the credibility of the event and put the foreign players in doubt.

He instructed the players to take responsibility and said that in the PSL we have the best panel of umpires who have a keen eye on every matter, in terms of player conditions and if the umpire panel is in the ball in that regard. If artificial change is found then it will certainly act on it under Code of Conduct.

It should be remembered that Zalmai Peshawar had defeated Quetta Gladiators in this match.
