PSL 5: Lahore Qalandars fined for slow over rate

Pakistan SuperLeague (PSL) Season 5 has been a success, however, where the Lahore Qalandars have not been able, to sum up any success so far, it has faced another challenge.

Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has imposed a fine on Qalandars at slow over-rate during matches between Islamabad and Lahore.

In a statement issued here, the Lahore Qalandars reduced by 2 overs from the scheduled time on Sunday's match at Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore during the PSL 2020, which would include a match fee on all players in the final XI. 10% was fined.

The penalty was imposed under Article 2.22 of the PSL Code of Conduct for Players and Sports Staff, the statement said.

It was also informed that according to the rules if the Lahore Qalandars team has a slow over-rate in the next match, all players of the team will be fined 20% of the match fee.

It is thought that in the match played at Gaddafi Stadium on Sunday night, Islamabad United defeated the Lahore Qalandars by one wicket after a thrilling match.

The Lahore team played 182 runs thanks to Mohammad Hafeez's magnificent 98 in the first game and Islamabad were given a target of 183 for 20 overs.

After that, Lahore started the bowling in a good way and on 5 runs, both the main batsmen of Islamabad United showed the way for the pavilion, however, the partnership that followed was supported by the team.

However, after this partnership was broken, Lahore was back in the match once again and Shaheen Shah Afridi out of four key players from United made way for his team to win the match but could not win the team.

Lahore Qalandars bowled out Shaheen Shah's best bowling by nine out of Islamabad but the last batsman, Mohammed Musa, made 9 runs in the last over to give his team a victory.
