Like Aamir and Sharjeel, a second chance should be provided, Saleem Malik

Former national team captain Saleem Malik has requested the Pakistan Cricket Board to give him a second chance like Sharjeel Khan and Mohammad Amir so that he can serve Pakistan cricket.

In his video message, Saleem Malik said that Inzamam-ul-Haq and Saqlain Mushtaq said very good words about my batting and my captaincy for which I am grateful to them while they also supported Dr. Noman, Shoaib Akhtar, and Rashid Latif. Thank you.

"I was cleared by the court in 2008 but since then I have never been considered for coaching," Malik said.

"I wish I could serve Pakistan in any form so that whatever skills Allah has given me I can transfer to young players," the former national team captain said.

He said that a few players were considered including Mohammad Amir, Mohammad Asif, Salman Butt, and Sharjeel Khan, all of whom represented Pakistan in domestic cricket and PSL as well.

Saleem Malik said that only I was completely ignored and requested the Pakistan Cricket Board to give him a chance to return to cricket like Aamir, Salman Butt, and Sharjeel.

The former cricketer said that he wanted to serve Pakistan by coaching at any level and Chairman Cricket Board Ehsan Mani gave me the opportunity to serve the country.

It is to be noted that recently the former captain of the national team Inzamam-ul-Haq had given a special program on Saleem Malik on his YouTube channel and supported him to give him another chance.

Inzamam had said that Saleem Malik was a great player, it is unfortunate that his career ended this way and it should have ended better.

"I believe that Saleem Malik deserves a second chance to do something for the country," he said.

Inzamam cited the example of former India captain Mohammad Azharuddin, who faced similar charges like Saleem Malik but is currently serving as president of the Hyderabad Cricket Association after the ban was lifted.

It may be recalled that Saleem Malik was banned for life in 2000 where he was accused of offering bribes to Australian players for poor performance in the 1994-1995 Karachi Test.

However, in October 2008, a local court in Lahore quashed the earlier decision and lifted the life ban imposed on him.
