Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) legal adviser Tafazul Rizvi sent a legal notice to former fast bowler Shoaib Akhtar's statement regarding the ban on Omar Kamal, calling it defamatory, while the board also expressed disappointment.

PCB legal adviser Tafazul Rizvi said that it has decided to take legal action against cricketer Shoaib Akhtar and sent a defamation notice.

He said that a compensation of Rs 100 million has been claimed and also applied to the FIA for action under the Cyber Crimes Act.

"All the allegations made by Shoaib Akhtar are false and his irresponsible statement has damaged my reputation," Rizvi said.

He said that the statement of the former fast bowler was seen on social media not only in Pakistan but also abroad so he would file a case against him in the courts of foreign countries as well.

Explaining his position, he said that he was the legal advisor of the PCB and had nothing to do with the legal department of the PCB.

It may be recalled that the PCB had two days ago banned national team batsman Umar Akmal for three years for violating the anti-corruption code.

Chairman Disciplinary Panel Justice (retd) Fazal Miran Chauhan in his brief judgment had said that Umar Akmal is banned from playing any form of cricket for 3 years.

Later, Shoaib Akhtar reacted by saying that he had imposed a three-year ban on Omar Kamal, who is accused of not informing him on time, and if he had told on time, the ban could have been reduced.

Speaking on the PCB's legal department, the former fast bowler said, "The PCB's legal department is a very incompetent and fallen department, especially Tafazul Rizvi, who does not know where it comes from."

He went on to say, "Their relationship is very good and they come from somewhere and have been involved with the PCB for 10, 15 years and God willing, there is no such case that they have." So far no one was able to send in the perfect solution, which is not strange.

Shoaib Akhtar said, "I believe that the star should be respected. His name has been around for centuries and these two-penny lawyers keep coming and going. Even his family members do not know him properly and the courts do not know him. They make a name for themselves by taking our cases.

Warning people from Tafzaal Rizvi, Shoaib Akhtar had said, "It has lost to me, Shahid Afridi and many other cases but it always confuses the case and makes money while the PCB is confused with the players." ۔

On the other hand, Tafazul Rizvi has said in the legal notice that "my family is connected with the fourth generation and I am a graduate of Pakistan, USA, and France".

"I have dealt with thousands of cases to date and have not compromised on professionalism, which is why most of my opponents consult me later," he said.

Addressing Shoaib Akhtar, he said, "You also came to me in the mid-2000s for professional suggestions."

"Pakistan Cricket Board is one of my many clients for which I have a 99% winning rate," said Rizvi.

PCB response

In its response, the PCB lamented that "the board regrets the choice of Shoaib Akhtar's inappropriate words in which he made a public statement on the PCB's legal department and legal adviser".

The statement said that "Shoaib Akhtar's language was very inappropriate and ridiculous which cannot be appreciated in the conscious society".

The PCB said that the board's legal adviser Tafazul Rizvi had personally sent a defamation notice against Shoaib Akhtar while the PC reserved its right.

Pakistan Bar Council reacts strongly to Shoaib Akhtar's statement

Vice-Chairman Pakistan Bar Council Abid Saqi in his statement said that Tafzal Rizvi, legal adviser of PCB is a member of the bar and Shoaib Akhtar should not have made such a statement.

He said the lawyer handles the case as per his client's instructions and the Bar Council would not allow such ridiculous statements.

The Pakistan Bar Council said Shoaib Akhtar should be careful.
