Islamabad United defeated Lahore Qalandars after a thrilling contest

Islamabad United defeated Lahore Qalandars by one wicket after a thrilling contest in the Pakistan Superleague (PSL) 2020.

At Qaddafi Stadium Lahore, host Qalandars batted first at the invitation of Islamabad United, while Fakhar Zaman and CHRIS LYNN landed on the field.

The Lahore Qalandars suffered a loss early in the innings when Mohammad Musa took the crucial wicket of Chris Lynn.

However, veteran Mohammad Hafeez came along to help Fakhar Zaman and the duo put up a brilliant 67-run partnership for the second wicket.

Fakhr made 33 off 26 balls that rival captain Shadab Khan smashed his wickets.

Still, Qalandars were not able to handle the loss that both Captain Sohail Akhtar and D WIESE returned to the pavilion.

From the other end, Mohammad Hafeez continued his excellent batting, completing the half-century, along with Patel, who added 51 runs, with his share of 41 runs. He was caught by Colin Ingram at the boundary in an attempt to throw a ball from Fahim Ashraf across the boundary.

Thanks to the aggressive batting of Hafeez and D WIESE in the closing overs, the Lahore Qalandars team managed to score 182 for six in the stipulated overs.

Hafeez showed impressive batting, scoring an unbeaten 98 off 57 balls with 7 fours and seven sixes, while D WIESE scored 19 off 9 balls.

United side captain Shadab bowled well and took 2 wickets for 14 runs in four overs while Fahim Ashraf also took two wickets.

In pursuit of the target, Islamabad United had a great start by Shaheen Shah Afridi outscoring LUKE RONCHI when the score was only 3 runs, after which Mohammad Hafeez took another dangerous batsman Colin Munro, which led to Islamabad's team came under intense pressure.

Captain Shadab Khan teamed up with DAWID MALAN to bring the score to 62, but this time it was D WIESE who thrashed Malan, who scored 22 runs.

The Islamabad United captain played a brilliant 52-run inning, but he was sent to the pavilion by Haris Rauf for an overall score of 91.

Colin Ingram made the match interesting by scoring more than 20 overs but Smith Patel and Shaheen Shah Afridi tried to take the match in their favour by dismissing Asif Ali and Ingram, but on the other hand, the United batsmen accepted. Were not ready at all and showed good batting.

Haris Rauf took the wicket of Fahim Ashraf, who had expressed alarming ambitions when the score was 152, after which Shaheen Shah Afridi took the wicket of Emad Butt who scored 8 runs.

Islamabad United showed excellent play despite falling 9 wickets for 163 runs and taking the match to the last over, Usman Shinwari took the last over by the Lahore Qalandars, which faced Musa Khan and Ahmed Safi Abdullah.

Musa Khan struck on the very first ball of the last over and made the mistake of the Lahore Qalandars, as Islamabad United won the match by one wicket and summoned the second success.

Islamabad United scored the target of 183 runs for the loss of one wicket before 9 wickets.

Musa Khan scored 17 and Ahmed Safi Abdullah scored 8 runs to give his team great success.

Shaheen Shah Afridi took 4 wickets for the Lahore Qalandars, but proved insufficient to give the team victory, Harris Rauf took two, Mohammad Hafeez, David WIESE and Patel one each.

Islamabad United captain Shadab Khan has been declared the best player of the match.

Earlier in the match played at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore, Islamabad United captain Shadab Khan won the toss and decided to field first.

Islamabad United captain Shadab Khan said after winning the toss, that the Lahore Qalandars are a strong team and will strive for the best in the match.

Lahore Qalandars captain Sohail Akhtar said that if he wins the toss, he too would bowl and try to score more than 170 runs on this wicket.
