De Kock appointed as South Africa captain for a one-day series from England
South Africa named Wicketkeeper Quentin de Kock as captain of the team, resting for a one-day series against world champions England.

According to a foreign news agency, AFP reports, South Africa has given rest to captain Faf du Plessis and fast bowler Kagiso Rabada for a three-match series beginning on February 4.

Selector Linda Zondi said not choosing Faf du Plessis on the team does not mean the end of her one-day career.

"We decided to give Faf du Plessis and Rabada a rest in this series because both have played a lot of cricket," he said.

Linda Zondi said the appointment of De Kook as captain is part of an alternative leadership plan for the World Cup 2023.

He said that after the one-day series against England, there will be a different team selection for the T20, followed by the T20 and one-day series against Australia.

De Kock has previously led South Africa in one-day and Twenty20 matches.

South Africa Cricket Acting Director Graham Smith said that De Kock is one of the best wicketkeeper batsmen in the world and we are confident that the new leadership role will make him a cricketer.

Other players, including new batsman Jenni Mann Milan, have also been added to the squad for the World Champion series, with Ngidi returning.

The South African team will be comprised of these players for the one-day series.

Quentin de Cooke (captain), Temba Boma, Borne Fortune, Beaver Hendrix, Reza Hendrix, Sisanda Magala, Jenni Mann Milan, David Miller, Andela Falkvane, Lungi Ngidi, Tabriz Solaris, Lotto Spell, Reese van der Dusen and All-rounder June  Exams included.

The one-day series between South Africa and England will begin in Cape Town on February 4, the second match will be played in Durban on February 7 and the third match in Johannesburg on February 9.

The Twenty20 series between England and South Africa starts on February 12 and three matches will be played.

The Test series between England and South Africa is ongoing, with England leading 1-2, while the last match of the series starts on January 24.
