Dubai: After defeating Pakistan in the second Test match, New Zealand made a clean sweep in the series and has become the number one team in the world rankings.
According to the latest Test team rankings released by the International Cricket Council, New Zealand swept Pakistan in a two-Test series, depriving Australia of the world number one title and taking the first position in the ICC Test team rankings. Australia has slipped one place to second, while India is third.
According to the latest Test team rankings, the New Zealand team has reached the first position with 118 points while the Australian team has moved up one place with 116 points. One of the reasons for becoming the world number one in New Zealand's impressive record at home, the last time they lost a Test match on home soil in 2017, and the only Test they have lost on home soil since 2017.
India is third with 114 points and England is fourth with 106 points. South Africa is fifth with 96 points, Sri Lanka is sixth with 86 points and Pakistan is seventh with 82 points. West Indies are eighth in the ICC Test team points table with 77 points, Afghanistan is ninth with 57 points and Bangladesh is tenth with 55 points. Similarly, Zimbabwe is in 11th place with 18 points while Ireland has not been able to get any points yet.
On the other hand, New Zealand captain Ken Williamson, who scored a double century, has further strengthened his position as the world number one batsman with 890 points. India captain Virat Kohli is second with 879 points, followed by Australia's Steven Smith and Marin LeBushin with 877 and 850 points respectively.
In terms of bowlers' rankings, Pat Cummins is the world number one bowler, while New Zealand's Neil Wagner and Tim Southee are the third and fourth best bowlers respectively.
