Special Assistant to the Prime Minister for Information and Chairman Pak-China Economic Corridor (C-PEC) Authority Chairman Asim Saleem Bajwa has said that
I will do my best to improve the Ministry of Information and Media to the best of my ability.
Asim Saleem Bajwa, Chairman C-PEC Authority in Islamabad, while talking to a delegation of journalists, said that C-PEC is a reality and there is no obstacle in the project.
He stressed that plans have been made for speedy completion of both the routes from Khanjrab to Gwadar and major plans are in place for the construction of the remaining roads in the next few months.
The Special Assistant said that C-PEC is a national project and the second phase will be very important and will start soon.
Asim Saleem Bajwa said that the second phase of the project focuses on agriculture, industry, trade, science, and technology, and activating economic zones in all the four provinces is a priority.
He said that development projects of Gwadar were also included in the second phase and a meeting of the Pak-China Joint Cooperation Committee would be held soon.
Special Assistant Asim Saleem Bajwa said that work on all special economic zones under C-PEC is in full swing.
He said that China would set up a 'Pest Control Center' in Pakistan under which the quality of seeds would be improved to make the crops disease resistant.
The Special Assistant said that 20,000 Pakistani students would go to China on scholarships and an announcement would be made soon.
It may be recalled that under the notification issued by the Cabinet Division on April 27, Firdous Ashiq Awan has been replaced by C-PEC Authority Chairman Lt Gen (retd) Asim Saleem Bajwa as the new Special Assistant to the Prime Minister for Information.
In November last year, the federal government appointed Asim Saleem Bajwa as chairperson of the C-PEC Authority.
Prior to his retirement, Lt. Gen. (retd) Asim Saleem Bajwa held other important positions including Director General (DG), DG Arms, and Commander Southern Command of the Pakistan Army Public Relations (ISPR).
