On the other hand, Opposition Leader of the National Assembly Shahbaz Sharif called for an inquiry into the 'scandal', raising questions about wheat and flour exports during the last quarter of 2019 despite the country facing a shortage of wheat.

In a statement from London, he said, "When there was a shortage of flour and wheat in the country, who ordered to export and at what price? The nation wants to know who has benefited from the damage done to the country. ”

"During the 16 months of the PTI government, we have to identify the reasons behind the destruction of every sector," he said.

In this regard, KP Information Minister Shaukat Yusufzai said that after the complaints of a ban on the supply of goods from Punjab to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the government took action and lifted the ban.

He said that flour is now available in sufficient quantity which makes no justification for raising the price of bread.

In addition, Punjab Chief Minister Usman Buzdar arrived at Jaranwala to monitor profit and stockpiles and suspended the Assistant Food Controller and Station House Officer (SHO) of the Khawak Department.

He also suspended Sahiwal's District Food Controller for failing to monitor the storage and supply of wheat to the flour mills and grinder.
