What are the amendments to the Army Act?
The legislation, titled Pakistan Army (Amendment) Act 2020, will result in the retirement of the three Armed Forces Chiefs and Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee.

In addition to this, the Prime Minister will have the privilege of extending his term of office after serving up to 60 years in the future, which will be finalized by the President.
According to the bill presented in the Army Act, Section 8A, B, C, D, E, F will be included while Section 8C with respect to the term and Chief of the Army Chief says: The rules and regulations of this Act Accordingly, the general retirement age and the minimum age of employment shall not apply during the deployment, reappointment and extension of the Chief of Army Staff and shall have a maximum age of 64 years.

During this time, the Chief of Army Staff will continue to serve as a general in the Pak Army.

According to Section 8A (b), the terms and conditions for the Chief of Army Staff will be determined by the President on the advice of the Prime Minister.

In this regard, the official said that amendments to the Army Act could not be challenged in any court of law.

According to section 8B (t), the contents of this Act or any other law, any order or decision of a court, the appointment, reappointment, extension of chairman, the Joint Chief of Staff Committee, or any person in this regard Discretion cannot be challenged in any court on any basis ”.
