US should not ignore Afghanistan as in the past, Foreign Minister

Pakistan has said that even if the United States manages to withdraw troops from Afghanistan and end its longest war, it should remain attached to the reconstruction of Afghanistan.

Speaking at the US Center for Strategic and International Studies in Washington, Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi warned the United States not to "ignore Afghanistan again", as Soviet troops under pressure from the US and Pakistan-backed fighters in 1989. Was seen after the ouster of K, he said 'do not repeat the' 80s.

According to AFP report of a French news agency, Shah Mehmood Qureshi said that "even if a successful agreement is reached, the challenges will remain so the US, its friends and allies will have to withdraw more responsibly."

The Foreign Minister further said, "They should stay connected (to Afghanistan), not for war but for reconstruction."

It should be noted that after the attack on New York's Twin Towers in 2001, the US invaded Afghanistan and abolished the Taliban regime.

But now US President Donald Trump wants to evacuate 12,000 US troops from Afghanistan.

The Taliban, on the other hand, offered a temporary ceasefire in recent talks with the United States in Doha, Qatar's capital, to pave the way for a peace deal.
