The United States imposed further economic sanctions on Tehran, demanding the release of US citizens detained from Iran.
It should be noted that Iran is already facing financial difficulties in the procurement of Corona virus due to economic sanctions and almost 35 years later it sought to borrow from the IMF.
According to Reuters news agency Reuters, Washington's recent sanctions are meant to increase economic pressure on Iran.
In this regard, US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo told reporters that Iran is considering releasing a few Americans in detention.
He said the United States would continue to pressurize Tehran to cut off its oil export capacity.
It should be noted that US President Donald Trump canceled a 2015 nuclear deal with Iran aimed at limiting Iran's activities in the region and withdrawing its missile program.
Mike Pompeo said that the United States is blacklisting 3 Iranian people, along with 9 companies based in South Africa, Hong Kong and China, who are trading Iranian petrochemicals.
The Foreign Secretary did not provide the names of those under sanctions.
