The Punjab government has approached the court Against the bailiffs of the Prime Minister's nephew

LAHORE: The Punjab government has approached the Lahore High Court against the bail plea of Prime Minister Imran Khan's nephew Advocate Hassan Niazi and seven other lawyers, who were granted bail by the trial court in the attack on Punjab Institute of Cardiology (PIC).

The provincial government filed an appeal in the High Court through the Prosecutor General Punjab, stating that "the trial court granted bail to the accused, irrespective of their jurisdiction."

Other accused include Ali Javed, Naeem Qamar, Abdul Majid, Syed Zain Abbas, Osama Malik, Abid Hassan and Muzammal Hussain.

The provincial government's appeal emphasized that the suspects were involved in attacks on the PIC, setting fire to a police van and attacking policemen.

In addition, the accused removed the oxygen masks from some of the patients treated at the hospital, which led to his death, the appeal added.

The provincial government was told by the court that the suspects damaged the hospital building as well as damaged medical equipment.

The appeal emphasized that the trial court was bound to look at the temporary assessment while granting bail, but did not examine the facts and evidence in-depth, which rendered the prosecution's case biased.

It stated that the accused were in despair and were not entitled to the trial court's soft conduct for bail, and the provincial government asked the Lahore High Court to dismiss the trial court's order in the case.

It is to be noted that Shadman police had filed an FIR against 250 lawyers for attacking PIC, damaging public property and attacking government employees.

Following the incident, a video of the attack on social media went viral, which shows that Hassan Niazi was involved in the attack, after which the police raided several places to arrest him but could not succeed.

Later on December 20, Hassan Niazi appeared with his father, Hafeezullah Niazi, a political analyst and lawyer, in a related anti-terrorism court and obtained bail from the court.

In addition, all lawyers arrested for attacking PIC were released on bail.

In addition, there was a compromise between the senior lawyers and the doctors' committee, but it was decided that the court proceedings would be conducted in accordance with the law.
