ISLAMABAD: The Joint Interests Council (CCI) has approved the formation of a high-level committee on the oil-hydel issue, amending the oil exploration and production policy and the OGRA ordinance 2002.
The 41st meeting of the Joint Interests Council, chaired by Prime Minister Imran Khan, was attended by the chief ministers of all four provinces.
According to the report, at the meeting, the federation decided to include provinces on issues related to gas royalties, water distribution and appointment of chairman and member of the Water and Power Development Authority (WAPDA).
CCI meeting amended all terms and conditions of the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) Ordinance, 2002 of the International Financial Institutions (IMF) Extension Fund Program (AFF) for Pakistan Structural Benchmark 2022-2019. Approved.
Under the decision, OGRA will have the authority to process its own gas tariffs.
According to the official statement in this regard, the most capable person will be appointed Chairman WAPDA.
Wapda chairman and members will be appointed in consultation with the provinces, Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan, the Assistant Prime Minister's Special Information and Broadcasting, told the press conference.
He further said that Chairman Wapda would be selected on rotation from all four provinces.
Briefing the media after the meeting, Prime Minister's Assistant Special Information and Broadcasting Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan said that at the beginning of the meeting the progress of implementation of previous decisions of the Common interests Council was reviewed, while the participants were invited to NetHidel. A detailed briefing was given on the AGM Qazi Formula between the provinces for profit and in this regard.
He said that it was decided at the meeting that a high level committee would be constituted to ensure the implementation of the relevant clause of the constitution in this matter, taking into account future facts, financial and other factors. Will compile recommendations for compiling.
He said that the Prime Minister directed that the recommendations of the provinces should be protected in the matter of net hydel profit and that a viable solution should be resolved in the matter of net hydel profit.
Firdous Ashiq Awan said that the meeting presented the recommendations of the Attorney General regarding the distribution of water resources in the country. The Prime Minister said that the distribution of water resources should not only be fair but the people of all the provinces should be informed about this.
