The government wrote a letter to Britain for return of Nawaz Sharif

Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi has confirmed that the federal government has written a letter to the UK for the return of former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif.

Talking to media in Islamabad, Shah Mahmood Qureshi said that 'the letter has been written and details will be revealed later.'

Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader and former prime minister Nawaz Sharif had gone to the UK for treatment after the court's approval in November last year. 

According to sources, the Government of Pakistan contacted the British Government in this regard and a regular letter was sent to the UK following the recommendation and consultation of the Punjab Government.

He said in the letter that "Nawaz Sharif's bail has expired so Nawaz Sharif should be sent back home so that he can complete the rest of the sentence".

Sources added that 'the government has made the British government aware of the current situation'.

Later, Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi, while talking to the media, confirmed a question regarding the government letter for Nawaz Sharif's return from journalists and briefly replied, 'Yes, details will be given later but wrote the letter.

On the occasion, the Foreign Minister said that in his talks with the Saudi Defense Minister, he expressed concern over the situation in occupied Kashmir and discussed how to proceed in this regard.

On the other hand, PML-N President Shahbaz Sharif issued a statement saying that under the law, the government does not have the authority to write such a letter.

In the statement, the Leader of the Opposition said that 'the hasty execution of the government is revealing its criminal intentions'.

The opposition leader said that the Islamabad High Court granted Nawaz Sharif bail for eight weeks and directed the government to approach Punjab to seek extension abroad. "Now we have the right to approach the Islamabad High Court on the action taken by the government."

Shahbaz Sharif said that trying to hinder Nawaz Sharif's treatment is like killing him and the government is playing with my brother's health to avoid public criticism.

He further said that 'Imran Khan is dealing with personal enmity and political revenge. Nawaz Sharif went abroad for medical treatment after meeting all legal requirements.
