Supreme Court restores Akbar Askani

Supreme Court restores Akbar Isakani, Provincial Assembly member of Balochistan Awami Party (BAP), the ruling party of the province.

On December 31, the Provincial Election Tribunal rejected the election of two BAP members, provincial assemblies Abdul Rahman Khetran and Mohammad Akbar Isakani.

It is pertinent to mention that Muhammad Akbar was the Advisor to the Chief Minister of Balochistan, against whom his opponent Asghar Rind had filed in the election in the Election Tribunal.

Akbar Iskani has approached the Supreme Court against the Election Tribunal's decision to revoke the election.

The petition was heard by a three-member bench headed by Justice Omar Ata Bandial.

At the hearing, the lawyer of Akbar Askani urged the court to submit the documents in the case should be given further respite while the opposing lawyer requested the court not to grant the order on the decision of the election tribunal.

However, the Supreme Court upheld the December 31 decision of the Election Tribunal, which restored the Akbar of Balochistan Awami Party on PB48.

Justice Omar Ata Bandial adjourned the hearing till January 24 after further hearing.
