South Sudan: Only 4 ventilators for 12 million people

With poverty and civil war victims, the African country with a population of 12 million lives in South Sudan, with only 4 ventilators,
However, the presence of only 24 beds in the intensive care ward (ICU) has been revealed.

The US Broadcasting CNN in its report cited International Rescue Committee (IRC) data, claiming that there are only 4 ventilators in all South Sudan hospitals - one ventilator is available for about 3 million people. 

The same report claimed that only 24 beds were found in the wards designed for intensive care in South Sudan hospitals.

It should be noted that South Sudan was separated from Sudan a decade ago in 2011, after an UN-supervised referendum, the southern part of Sudan was given the status of the new country South Sudan.

The same report said that the situation is not only South Sudan but also other countries in the continent Africa is very critical and the Central African country Burkina Faso has also revealed only 11 ventilators.

The population of Burkina Faso is estimated to be around 20 million while the Central African Republic with a population of about 5 million has been revealed to have only 3 ventilators.

The same report cited a report by the World Health Organization (WHO) that there are around 2,000 ventilators in 41 countries in continental Africa.

The World Health Organization said that there are only 5,000 beds in intensive care wards in dozens of hospitals in 43 countries in Africa that, if distributed across the continent's population, will have one bed for every one million people.

According to the report, 4,000 beds of intensive care ward (ICU) are available to every one million people in continental Europe.

The report comes at a time when the World Health Organization has warned that continent Africa could become the next epidemic of the Coronavirus.

Other international agencies, including the UN and the World Health Organization, were recently warned that if Africa became the new center for the Coronavirus, there would be at least 3 million deaths and a million People around will be affected.

It is thought that by the evening of April 20, the number of Corona victims in continental Africa had reached 23,000, while the number of casualties there had risen to around 1200.
