Showbiz Personalities Praise Faisal Javed for Approving 'Artist Royalty Resolution.'

The senator and chairman of the Senate's Standing Committee on Information and Broadcasting, Faisal Javed Khan, has been lauded by the Senate of Pakistan for passing the 'Artist Royalty Resolution'.

Senator Faisal Javed Khan had moved the 'Artist Royalty Resolution' in the 317th session of the Senate on January 17, which the House passed.

The senator also shared a video of the resolution presented and passed on social media, congratulating the artist community.

A year ago, he announced legislation to reimburse artists for their work and services in terms of "royalties" each time.

Faisal Javed Khan had tabled the said resolution in the Senate last month on December 24, 2021, which was passed by a majority vote on January 17.

In this regard, Faisal Javed Khan said in the morning show of Hum TV that the passage of 'Royalty Resolution' paved the way for new legislation by amending the 'Copyright Act 1962' while also the 'Copyright' laws the country. Will be hard

He explained that so far in Pakistan, if any actor or singer has to perform in a theater or an event after TV, or if his drama or film is re-broadcast or released, the artist has to do it only once. Compensation is paid, but the artist will start getting paid every time after the new legislation.

He said that after passing the said resolution, the word 'artist' would be re-interpreted, and the said bill would provide protection to all performing artists.

Actor Meekal Zulfiqar, who has raised his voice for providing compensation to the artists every time, also expressed happiness over the legislation and thanked Faisal Javed Khan for passing the said bill.
